R2 Surgical's Founder to Speak About Accessibility and Sustainability in Surgical Robotics at Upcoming Webinar

TOLEDO, OH - Tom Shrader, Founder and President of R2 Surgical, will present at the "Future of Surgical Robotics" webinar, hosted by Surgery International, an online medical news hub. The event will be moderated by Professor Shafi Ahmed, a top Colorectal Surgeon known for his work in surgical education. 

The webinar, scheduled for 2:00pm EST (7:00pm GMT) on Thursday, February 15, represents R2 Surgical's first speaking engagement and anticipates attracting around 1,000 attendees in the surgical robotics space. The webinar is the inaugural installment of Surgery International’s “Talk Surgery” series, organized in partnership with Orascoptic and The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and is free to attend.

Shrader will contribute to the discussion by sharing his perspective on the secondary surgical robotics market, how to make ownership of surgical robots more accessible, and sustainability in medical devices. 

The webinar will also serve as a platform for leaders to share insights on new technologies like Enhanced Robotics Platforms, Integration of Artificial Intelligence, Teleoperation and Telepresence, Haptic Feedback, Open Platform Solutions, Autonomous Surgical Robots, Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), and Surgical Training and Simulation. 

UK-based clinical experts and industry leaders will share the panel with Tom Shrader, including:

  • Dr. Tim Lane, Urologist and Robotic Surgeon at Lister Hospital, Stevenage.
  • Dr. Bhavan Rai, Urological Surgeon at Freeman Hospital, Newcastle, specializing in robotic surgery and uro-oncology.
  • Dr. Peter Vaughan-Shaw, Colorectal Surgeon at Edinburgh Colorectal Unit and Researcher.
  • Paul Gibbons, Managing Director of Corin Group in the UK, known for orthopaedic innovation.
